This is a really awesome deal for anyone...not just parents!  I just joined the California State Parks Foundation.  They offer an introductory Park "sampler" membership level (normally $40.00) which includes 7 day-use parking passes, good for admission to more than 200 state parks, California Parklands newsletter, Official California State Parks map and a California State Parks Foundation membership card.  Depending on the entrance fee for the park in question, this could save you a bundle!
